Bulk JPG to JXL Converter
Batch-convert JPG photos to JPEG XL at once - free, no signup, and no upload. Encoding happens locally in your browser. JXL is designed as the successor to JPG: at the same visual quality it typically produces files 30-60% smaller, with fewer blocky artefacts and support for HDR and wide colour. Note that this tool re-encodes the decoded pixels, so it is a lossy-to-lossy step; for a bit-exact, reversible JPEG recompression you need a dedicated tool such as cjxl.

Frequently asked questions
- How much smaller is JXL than JPG?
- At equivalent visual quality JXL is commonly 30-60% smaller than JPG for photographs, depending on content and settings.
- Is this the lossless JPEG recompression?
- No. Rebytify decodes your JPG to pixels and encodes new JXL data, so there is a small generational loss at lossy settings. The lossless transcode, which is reversible back to the original JPG, is a feature of the cjxl command line tool.
- Which quality should I choose?
- Around 85 is a good starting point for photographs. Use the target file size option if you need to hit a specific limit.
